President Donald Trump has developed a reputation for picking fights with anybody and anything, from foreign dignitaries like Kim Jong Un, to luxury department stores like Nordstrom. In September 2017, he added another big name to the list: the National Football League.
That’s right: America’s most controversial president went to war with America’s most televised past-time. In a campaign rally, Donald Trump criticized football players who protest during the national anthem, calling for NFL owners to “get that son of a b* off the field”.
All fans (whether they agreed with the President or not), anxiously awaited Sunday Night Football to see who would still be standing as “The Star-Spangled Banner” rang out across the stadium.
